Exhibition: the cot tradition
December marks the 800th anniversary of the official birth of the cot. The story takes us back to 1223 in Greccio, in the Abbruzes region of Italy. Saint Francis of Assisi is said to have dressed the oratory with wooden and clay figures and animals, decorated with paper, moss and candles. He preached there on Christmas Day 1223 to the peasants. The crypt of the church of Saint-Georges is an ideal setting for a number of models from private collections.
