Rumanian cemetery

This cemetery is the largest Rumanian military cemetery in France. It’s composed by 553 graves from 678 Rumanian prisoners, which died during the First World War and by two common graves with 125 corpses, which died because of the frost during the night of the 27th January 1917. The village of Soultzmatt gave in the year 1919 a piece of land to Rumania in order to create a cemetery in the place Gauchmatt. This cemetery was unveiled in 1924 by the King Ferdinant from Rumania and the queen Marie. How to go there: in Soultzmatt take direction Wintzfelden. After the Source turn left in direction Schweighouse / Buhl until the place Gauchmatt.
