Ballet: Sleeping Beauty by the Kiev Grand Ballet

Ballet by P. Tchaikovsky By the Kiev Grand Ballet Conductor A. STOYANOV - Choreography M. Petipa Stars Stoyanov Alexander and Kukhar kateryna "The ballet of ballets": this is how Rudolf Nureyev described it. Indeed, Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty, choreographed by Marius Petipa after the fairy tale by Perrault and the Brothers Grimm, is one of the most popular classical ballets. Combining the magic of the story with the virtuosity of the roles, it is performed today by most of the great classical companies. Sleeping Beauty is the story of Princess Aurora, gifted with all the qualities of the world thanks to the benevolence of her godmothers, kind fairies, but who is condemned to eternal sleep by the evil fairy Carabosse on her 16th birthday. Tchaikovsky's score, in all its fervour and flamboyance, provides a superb backdrop for the choreography, the ensembles, the multiple variations, the character dances, and the bewitching pas de deux, of which the grand final pas de deux is the most important. Sleeping Beauty represents the apogee of classical ballet, with dance asserting itself as a major art form. This masterpiece is a treat for all dance fans thanks to the performance of the artists from the famous Kiev Grand Ballet. It is a show for the whole family, for young and old, a symphony of dance, touching and wonderful.
