Colmar International Festival: Mosaic for clarinet and piano

" The largest classical music festival in Alsace. "

PIANO : FRANK BRALEY CLARINET : PIERRE GÉNISSON The dialogue between Pierre Génisson's virtuoso clarinet and Frank Braley's finely poetic piano promises an hour of pure magic! In his Fantasiestücke, Schumann gave the clarinet some marvellous solos, definitively establishing the instrument's emancipation. At the end of his life, Brahms, his former protégé, also rediscovered the magic of this extraordinary-sounding instrument, and with his two sonatas from Op. 120 created a diptych that quickly established itself as one of the finest masterpieces in the instrument's repertoire. On our side of the Rhine, Debussy composed his Rhapsodie for a clarinet competition at the Paris Conservatoire. As for Gershwin, who liked to blend jazz influences with his classical compositions, we know what place the clarinet has in his brilliant Rhapsody in Blue. So we're delighted to find this page transcribed for clarinet and piano! PROGRAM R. Schumann, Fantasiestücke op. 73 J. Brahms, Sonata No. 1 op. 120 C. Debussy, Rhapsody for clarinet in B flat G. Gershwin, Rhapsody in blue, arrangement for clarinet and piano
