" Follow the Bangard through the vines and discover the most prestigious vineyard of the southern portion of Alsace’s Wine Route. "
The Bangards path in Thann. In former times, the Rangen was covered by the Bangards - the “wine guardians” whose task was to guard the precious vineyard, which was the source of Thann’s wealth. You are following one of these Bangards to discover the Southernmost vineyard in Alsace - the only one in the region to be entirely classified GreatVintage. Its south-facing hillsides cover a surface area of 22 hectares, with slopes of up to 45°. This vineyard produces 3 exceptional grapes: Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer. You may choose from three routes, marked out by 19 educational signposts. Follow the Bangards signs.
