The Pagan Wall

The Pagan Wall around Mont Sainte-Odile is one of Alsace’s unsolved mysteries. Enjoy a lovely, timeless stroll and discover the remnants while pondering their obscure origins.

According to the experts, the mysterious Pagan Wall was built by the Celts. It is over 10 km long and encloses a surface area of 100 hectares around Mont Sainte-Odile. The wall, made of large blocks of stone, is still 3 metres high in places, and 2 metres thick.

Access: take the D426 to the P3 car park of Mont Sainte-Odile, follow the yellow X signs to the Pagan Wall (Mur Païen) on foot, 2 hrs 15 mins (easier), 2 hrs 30 mins (harder), or the 5 hrs loop.
