Spectres of Europe
These silhouettes are all different, but they share the same simple joys: singing at the top of their lungs in the shower, dancing freely to their favorite song, savoring the tingling sensation of budding love... A portrait of an uninhibited youth with a thirst for life, laughter and love (Sous les jupes). - When spectres awaken, light dances with shadows in a game of chiaroscuro (Rex). - Time flies, inexorable, towards a hypothetical future, without us ever being able to suspend its course. The ancients measured time by the flow of an hourglass. No doubt they noticed that time is like sand: the more sand you try to hold in your hand, the faster it runs (Poussière de Terre). Spectres d'Europe brings together the worlds of three new-generation choreographers whose styles are already well established: the profound, communicative lightness of Pierre-Émile Lemieux-Venne (dancer-choreographer of the OnR Ballet), the spectral dance of Lucas Rodrigues Valente, winner of the latest Biarritz Competition for young choreographers, and the metaphysical convolutions of Spanish artist Alba Castillo. An evening in three acts, where the ghosts of times past, present and future meet.
