Bernstein Castle

" Legend has it that the castle was built on a rock that was home to a family of bears, giving the castle its name meaning "the rock of the bear". Ready to go? "

This granite castle is one of the oldest in Alsace, know as early as the beginning of the XIth century.

The castle has an 18 m high keep, a hexagonal lords’ dwelling with loopholes and semi-circular windows  and a square tower used to contain the castle chapel.
