Wines WACH Guy - Domaine des Marronniers

" Discover the great vintages of Andlau and a family of passionate winemakers! "

Domaine Wach is a family-run business based in Andlau, a pretty wine-growing commune in the Bas-Rhin region of Alsace. From artisan coopers to artisan winemakers, we cultivate the desire to do things well on a human scale. We take great pleasure in creating great varietal wines from our 9 hectares of vineyards.

The arrival of Pierre - the 7th generation to head the estate - and his wife Jessica, a sommelier from Quebec, has brought a new dynamism. The 2022 vintage is the first to be officially labelled organic. The desire to find the 'logic' inherent in the word 'organic' marks a fully considered conversion, in synergy with our steep vineyards.

Sensitive to technological advances in the wine sector, Pierre pays particular attention to the progress inherent in the craft of winemaking. These include cryo-extraction, the use of micro-oxygenation to limit inputs into the wine, and an innovative process for regulating competition in the vines without deep ploughing. These improvements have enabled us to achieve greater precision and finesse.

Dry wines take pride of place. Passion and rigour can be felt in the glass, where the wines are crystalline and made for gastronomy. They find a coveted place on exceptional tables in France, various European countries and abroad. On the export front, we maintain excellent trade relations with Japan, Poland and Canada.

At the Wach estate, the Moenchberg, Wiebelsberg and Kastelberg Grands Crus are told in Riesling. Produced from marl-limestone, pink sandstone and schist terroirs respectively, these wines will delight the most patient of palates. Marketed three years after bottling, we make sure that the different elements are in harmony before you can toast. Riesling accounts for almost 40% of our grape varieties. We like it dry, vibrant and mineral.

Also in a dry style, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir waltz around the cellar. Reflecting our small size, the different cuvées are available in moderate quantities.

In our constant quest for improvement, the past year has been marked by business travel, the modernisation of our tools, new projects and the arrival of our baby, Jules Wach. Next year promises to be just as exciting!
