The village of Châtenois, ideally located on the Wine Route, is a fortified city with a unique charm. Two enclosures surround the town, dating from the 13th and 15th centuries. Walls staged each year during the traditional "Fête des Remparts" in June.
These places are listed as Historical Monuments thanks to the Witches' Tower, a 15th century Gothic tower gate located on the second enclosure; and the 18th century St George's Church. Push the door and you will discover one of the masterpieces of organ builder Silbermann.
From the church, take a stroll on the interpretation trail along the ramparts and then go down to the heart of the town. Get lost in the alleys and let yourself be seduced by the typical Alsatian houses where geraniums bloom on balconies every summer.
From the town, discover the surrounding cycle paths during the annual Slow-Up in June, hike in the vineyard, on the GR5 trail or on the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago.
Finish your walk with a visit to the wine cellars and stop at one of the good restaurants in the town, which offer various local specialities such as the Tarte Flambée.
