Guebwiller

The town of Guebwiller is located on the Alsace wine route at an altitude of 300 meters, at the foot of the Grand Ballon formerly called "Ballon de Guebwiller", the highest peak in the Vosges mountains (1424m).
Labeled "Country of Art and History" and classified as a Tourist Municipality, the city of Guebwiller (Gawiller in Alsatian) is animated by a dynamic of promotion of architecture and heritage.
This former capital of the possessions of Murbach Abbey was established in the heart of the Florival Valley (from Latin Florigeravallis: literally valley of flowers). Nicknamed "the city with three churches", Guebwiller is home to monuments displaying a variety of architectural styles: the Romanesque church of Saint Léger, the former Convent of the Dominicans (Gothic, currently a cultural meeting center). Among the personalities who have marked the history of the city, Theodore Deck, master of ceramic art in the 19th century, gave his name to the art and local history museum: The Theodore Deck and Museum.
Dominated by a remarkable terraced vineyard, Guebwiller is the only town in Alsace to produce 4 Alsace Grand Cru AOCs: Grand Cru Kessler, Grand Cru Kitterlé, Grand Cru Saering, Grand Cru and Spiegel.
The town of Guebwiller is ideally located near Colmar (28km) and Mulhouse (22km) and the European capital Strasbourg (100km) as well as in the Rhine cross-border area close to Basel in Switzerland (54km) and Freiburg in Germany (77 km). The ideal location to enjoy the advantages of Alsace, whether in summer or at the end of the year for the Christmas markets.
