Exhibition - The Olympic Games: History, sport and citizenship

This exhibition retraces the history of the Olympic Games from Athens 1896 to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024.

Rooted in the political and geopolitical context, migratory flows and social change, each Olympiad offers a glimpse not only of an era but also of the world. Athletes, both men and women, achieve great feats and write an exceptional page in the history of surpassing oneself. These individual stories, these extraordinary destinies, highlight civic values, stories that shed new light on history and the present. This exhibition explores this multiple history through 30 Olympic Games and 15 Paralympic Games, highlighting the extraordinary stories of sportsmen and women whose commitment has left its mark on contemporary history.

Exhibition on loan from the Bibliothèque d'Alsace.
