The estate Situated on the dizzying slopes of Guebwiller, in the south of Alsace, with 50° slopes and altitudes ranging from 250 to 390 metres, Schlumberger's mountainside vineyard is undoubtedly one of the most striking in Alsace. Guebwiller is the only commune in Alsace to boast 4 Grands Crus. Half of our vineyard, or 70 hectares, is made up of these unique terroirs. An anecdote or story about his profession Domaines Schlumberger enjoyed a remarkable boom following the First World War. Ernest Schlumberger, then manager of the estate, was able to buy back no less than 100 hectares of vines to save the Guebwiller vineyards. He then uprooted and replanted all these plots horizontally, to make it easier to work the vines. Even today, the vineyards are planted on terraces supported by dry-stone walls, a configuration that is unprecedented in Alsace!
